Advantages and disadvantages of quartz stone board countertops
May 13,2024

Advantages:
1. Wear resistant and scratch resistant
The Mohs hardness of quartz stone board reaches 7.5 degrees (3 degrees for marble and 6.5 degrees for granite), which can to some extent prevent scratches from iron tools and other materials.
2. Not easy to penetrate, strong resistance to asexuality
The surface is dense without pores, with a water absorption rate of only 0.02%. Generally, acidic and alkaline substances such as coffee, oil, and soy sauce cannot penetrate.
3. Non radiative and non-toxic
Quartz is a natural crystalline mineral and one of the inorganic materials. During the production process, it is purified to eliminate harmful substances. In addition, the dense and pore free material structure on the surface makes it safe and non-toxic for bacteria to hide.
Disadvantages:
Unable to achieve seamless splicing
Due to its high hardness, it is not possible to achieve seamless splicing like acrylic. Some cabinet companies may polish the seams to meet customer requirements for seamless splicing, but editors do not recommend it. As the surface of the countertop is impermeable, factories usually go through more than 30 rounds of polishing, and manual damage before polishing cannot achieve this technology, which can easily lead to penetration and other phenomena in the later stage.
